Hans Ubben

Managing Partner

Education and experience

Hans Ubben is a graduate of the University of Antwerp, and has subsequently completed a number of additional courses, including a master's degree in corporate law (Antwerp University) and a postgraduate degree in corporate liquidator (Leuven University).

He began his career at the Antwerp Bar in 2002 and completed his internship at the firm Stevens -Samyn - De Meester. Following his training, he was a partner in two mid-sized firms before establishing his own firm, Confidenz Advocaten, in October 2015. Since 2013, he has been a curator in Antwerp and, since 2018, a court-appointed mandator under the GRP (formerly WCO). He developed the website www.faillissementspreventie.be with his colleague Marc Leemans.

Hans has a keen interest in the digitization of the legal profession and between 2019 and 2024 was point of contact for IT matters at the ‘Balies’ of the Province of Antwerp. Since then, he has also served on the IT Committee of the Order of Flemish ‘Balies’. In September 2024, he was appointed administrator of the Central Register Solvency (Regsol).

His expertise lies in IT, company law, insolvency and liability.

After establishing a solid foundation in the general branches of law during his internship and subsequent years, Hans specialized mainly in company, insolvency and liability law.

He has chosen to market himself as both a 'business lawyer' and an 'in-house lawyer' for the self-employed and companies. As a business lawyer, he combines his business insights and strategies with legal expertise. As an in-house lawyer, he is a trusted person who assists or represents his clients in important decisions, negotiations or conflicts. He acts not only from a legal point of view, but also according to what the client wants to achieve and what the client definitely wants to avoid. He is adept at anticipating potential conflicts and works proactively to avoid them.

He is interested in the digitalization of the legal profession and is active in the automated collection of outstanding invoices. Hans has developed a user-friendly and automated collection system for entrepreneurs and is the proud inspirer of the website www.wordbetaald.be.
